New Taipei City Documentary Awards began in 2011. Each year, selected projects were given fund for production, the aim is to promote local documentary filmmaking. This screening shows three of the short films selected in 2015. 

Rubbish Landscape

Liina Klauss is a German artist residing in Hong Kong. She collects rubbish from beaches, and curates art installations with the rubbish by rearranging it according to its colours. Her creative process allows us to reflect on the relationships between rubbish, art and the nature.

The Hospital

Established in the 80s, the Golden Hospital became a successful local community hospital in South Taiwan. However, the hospital has suffered financial difficulties in recent years. The daughter of the director, Jiarong, decided to help her father to put the hospital back on track.

A Perfect Crash

In March 2014, a group of students occupied the Taiwan Legislative Yuan for 24 days to protest the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement, in what is known as the "Sunflower Movement". Later on, one of the student leaders, Chen Wei-ting, ran in a legislative by-election. Hailed as a new reformer, Chen got enormous support. However, the exposé of past sexual harassment cases caused his campaign to come to an abrupt halt after just seventeen days.
