The large influx of migrant workers from South East Asia in recent year has altered the racial composition of Hong Kong; however, there is little contact or understanding between the Hong Kong Chinese and these "foreigners". Invisible Women takes a look at the life of three Indian women.Vandana, an outspoken young barrister, was born and raised in Hong Kong. Preeti and Rehka, two young women from Bombay, came to work as domestic workers. These three women's backgrounds and experiences are extremely different. However, as Indians, they are all treated by mainstream society as "others".

The Ghost Festival takes place during the seventh lunar month. The gates of hell are opened to free the hungry ghosts who wander the world seeking food. During this month, Chinese pay tribute to their ancestors and offer food to the deceased to appease them and ward off bad luck.

In Hong Kong, besides staging ceremonies to honor the dead, many Taoist organizations also give away rice to the elderly and the poor. The rice distribution depicted in this film was one of the largest events, and attracted over eight thousand people.

The event was scheduled to last from nine in the morning to six in the evening. In order to ensure a place in the line, most of the participants arrived before dawn

By highlighting the effort made by women at the grass roots level, the documentary records the cultural debates between women and the law, and the impact of their campaigns on policy makers. The documentary serves as a forum for presenting the crime of rape in different perspectives while promoting debate on the possibilities of civil society activism in China.
